Ensuring that the adhesive on sticky sublimation transfer paper does not leave residue on the fabric after application involves several key steps. Here are some effective strategies:
Choose Quality Transfer Paper: Invest in high-quality sublimation transfer paper specifically designed for your type of fabric. Look for papers that are known for their clean release properties.
Temperature and Pressure Settings: Follow the recommended temperature and pressure settings for sublimation printing. Too much heat or pressure can cause the adhesive to break down and leave residue. Make sure your heat press is calibrated correctly.
Pre-Press the Fabric: Before applying the transfer paper, pre-press the fabric for a few seconds. This removes moisture and wrinkles, which can help achieve a better bond during the transfer process and reduce the chance of adhesive residue.
Proper Cooling Time: Allow the fabric to cool completely after the transfer process. Transferring while the fabric is still hot can cause the adhesive to remain tacky and stick to the transfer paper.
Test on Scrap Fabric: Before doing a full run, test your sublimation process on a scrap piece of the same fabric. This will help you determine the right settings and ensure that no residue is left behind.

Post-Transfer Care: After the transfer, avoid washing the fabric immediately. Let it sit for at least 24 hours before washing to ensure that the adhesive has fully set and bonded.
